Caldenar

Caldenar is one of the strongest public entry points into Korsall. It is a human kingdom in the Central Eastern Region whose power is distributed between the royal seat, the Capital Lands of Caldenar, and semi-autonomous duchies that maintain their own governments, armies, universities, industries, and regional identities.

King Aedric Valencrest rules a kingdom built around knowledge, law, diplomacy, and strength. His reputation for intense curiosity can cause enemies to underestimate him, but the Vault presents that curiosity as part of his political and military edge rather than a weakness.

Valcrest is identified in the newer Caldenar source as the royal seat and symbolic center of the kingdom, while legacy notes also preserve Valten as the capital with the largest universities of magic and knowledge in the known world. Until the Valten and Valcrest relationship is resolved, this page treats the issue as an active continuity question rather than flattening it.

The known Caldenarian duchies include Grethwyn Duchy, Marrathorne Duchy, Elvessan Duchy, Droswain Duchy, Caerdrath Duchy, and Valtheris Duchy. The Vault also contains a separate Valthyr Duchy note connected to Parleth, so Valtheris and Valthyr remain distinct public entries until creator review confirms whether they are related, renamed, or separate.

Caldenar's public institutions include the Calden Shieldhost, the Calden Greatcloaks, the King's Guard in Valcrest, and a web of guilds, universities, merchant powers, and secretive societies. Its politics are rarely simple: peace is maintained through ritual, law, negotiation, trade leverage, and the constant prevention of local rivalry from becoming open fracture.
